Eyal Ephrat, M.D.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Ephrat is an obstetrician and technologist dedicated to improving clinical outcomes and patient safety while reducing the cost of care. His pioneering work in clinical decision support systems spans the past 17 years. Before founding MedCPU, Eyal founded E&C Medical Intelligence (now Perigen). Under his leadership, E&C helped its hospital clients meaningfully improve quality and reduce costs. Eyal’s extensive clinical experience, decision support systems expertise, and work in the areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology has led to the development of MedCPU’s transformational technology.

 

Sonia Ben-Yehuda

Founder and President

Sonia Ben-Yehuda is a successful entrepreneur with more than 13 years of experience in health information technology and more than 20 years of experience as a business manager, having founded, managed and successfully sold several companies. Sonia, formerly with Scientia Capital, implemented an investment in E&C Medical Intelligence, joining its board of directors in 2001. She was elected president of E&C in 2002, where she worked closely with Dr. Eyal Ephrat. Sonia was responsible for growing the company’s client base from two hospitals to 40 over her four-year tenure.

 

Dan Neuwirth

President & CEO, MedCPU Americas

Dan Neuwirth has extensive executive and entrepreneurial leadership experience in healthcare technology and services. Prior to joining MedCPU, Dan led strategic growth and development activities for GE Healthcare’s Performance Solutions business with responsibility for acquisitions, partnership development and strategic investments. Dan joined GE following its acquisition of Agility Healthcare Solutions, where he was co-founder and chief operating officer. Before founding Agility, Dan was senior vice president of operations for McKesson Medical-Surgical, a $3 billion division of McKesson Corp., where he led the company’s overall operating strategy and distribution operations.

 

Noam Velan

Senior Vice President, Products

Noam Velan has more than 10 years of healthcare IT product management and development experience, and over 15 years of experience in various technical leadership roles.  Prior to joining MedCPU, Noam led the R&D of Carestream Health’s HIT division, where he managed the development of Carestream’s leading edge PACS, cloud based archiving, and image distribution product lines, installed in over 2,000 hospitals and clinics worldwide, and associated with $200M in annual revenues.

 

Moe Alkhafaji

Chief Technology Officer

Moe Alkhafaji, a member of MedCPU’s founding team, has more than 12 years of high-level experience in developing and implementing complex, high transaction-volume information technology systems. He has held senior software engineering positions with Viant, a healthcare technology company; the Chicago Mercantile Exchange; and Argonne National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory for science and engineering research.

 

Nancy Zimmerman, RN, BSN

Chief Nursing Officer

Nancy Zimmerman has extensive experience in healthcare technology, having founded VasTech, a company that developed and marketed healthcare workforce management software before being acquired by Lawson Software. She also has deep clinical experience, serving as a labor and delivery nurse and as a certified perinatal educator at the Northside Hospital in Georgia, the country’s largest private obstetrics hospital. She also has consulted with a wide range of organizations to evaluate and establish best practice standards.

 

Jeff Finkelstein, M.D., FACEP

Chief Medical Officer, Emergency Medicine and Quality

Dr. Finkelstein is chief of emergency medicine at a multi-campus community emergency department treating more than 100,000 patients annually. He has successfully led multiple emergency department information technology projects, including deployment of electronic order sets that incorporated evidence-based medicine and best practices.
